3.4.2.5 Retract the Mast
To retract the mast:
1. Press and hold the Mast Down
button until the mast reaches the fully nested position
and all mast motion stops. When the Mast Down
button is pressed and held, the RCP
will automatically home itself, if it is not already in the home position, before allowing the
mast to lower. Once homed, all power to the RCP, Lights, and any Auxiliary devices will
be removed.
Retraction of the mast can be stopped at any time by releasing the Mast Down
button.
2. Release the Mast Down
button when the mast reaches the fully nested position and
all mast motion stops. The control system drives the frame into the bumpers using
current limiting to ensure there is no mechanical play during vehicle transit. Once
nested, the system will automatically power down after approximately 5 seconds.
Once the mast is fully nested, the Vehicle Interlock contact signals it is safe to move the
vehicle.
(Note: the Vehicle Interlock contact may activate slightly before the mast is fully nested
by design. Continue to hold the Mast Down button until motion stops even if the Vehicle
Interlock contact indicates the mast is stowed)
3. Optional: Press the stop
button (if equipped) to power down the unit.
Note: The Actuator has internal limit switches. When the mast is lowered back to the
nested position, the mast will power down automatically 5 seconds after contacting the
lower limit switch. The system must be reinitiated to operate.
4. Visually inspect the mast to ensure it is properly stowed. Ensure that the payload will not
excessively bounce as the vehicle drives down the road.
5. Store the HHRC so it will not be damaged during transportation or have inadvertent
button activations.
