Level 3
Level 3 maintenance comprises the complete re-building of a machine, and
electronic repairs down to component level. This may be done by either the
manufacturers or their authorised agents and may involve the use of
sophisticated diagnostic and repair facilities.
Maintenance appropriate to a particular level can only be done by personnel qualified to work
either at that level, or the levels above. Thus Level 2 maintenance may be carried out by
Level 3 technicians, but never by Level 1 technicians.
5.3
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Table 2 gives a list of tools and equipment sufficient for most maintenance and repair work
carried out at either Level 1 or 2 as defined in Paragraph 5.2. This list may be supplemented
by additional specialist tools.
