2.2.11 How to read the front panel lights
How to Read the Front Panel Lights
Power
The Power Light will be lit whenever the power is turned on (switch on rear of VR8500). If the
power light fails to illuminate, verify that the power cord is plugged into a live outlet and the power
switch is turned on.
If the Power light ever flashes or flickers while the power switch is turned on, the
unit may require service. Contact Vibration Research for assistance.
Status
Flashing with one flash every 2 seconds (one second on. one second off) indicates that the
box has not been initialized yet. Rapid flashing indicates the box is in the process of initializing.
Flashing with a brief flash on once every 2 seconds (mostly off, with just a brief flash on) indicates the
box is initialized, but is in standby mode waiting for
VibrationVIEW
software to communicate with it.
Flashing steadily with one flash every second (half second on, half second off) indicates that the box is
connected to
VibrationVIEW,
but is waiting for additional boxes to connect before entering the active
state. Flashing with a brief flash off once every second (mostly on, with just a brief flash off) indicates
the box is connected to
VibrationVIEW
and is active.
Fault
The fault light illuminates briefly for a lamp check when the box is initially powered on, and
when the box is reinitializing.
While the Status light is blinking, the Fault light will turn on solid if there is
no network cable connecting the unit to a computer or network switch, or the network cable is the
wrong type (crossover for 8500-to-computer, straight for 8500-to-switch). When a network cable is
connected the Fault light will turn off. If the fault light is continuously on while the status light is
