CineCast HD Version 2.6 Installation and User Manual
SCSI Command Error Conditions
Sense Data Error Codes
After Power-up, SCSI Reset, or Bus Device Reset
The Vela HD MPEG-2 decoder will respond only with SCSI Status Check Condition
without transfer of data to any SCSI command except
INQUIRY
and
REQUEST
SENSE
.
The host adapter (initiator), after seeing the check condition, should respond by
performing a
REQUEST
SENSE
. Per the SCSI-2 recommendations, the initiator should
renegotiate for synchronous data transfers and wide transfers. This is done to
enable hot swap capability and proper negotiation for Sync and Wide data.
NOTE:
Hot swap is not addressed within the SCSI-2 specification.
After the above, the decoder will respond to the
INQUIRY
,
REQUEST
SENSE
, and
TEST
UNIT
READY
commands. The decoder will return the Check Condition SCSI Status to
TEST
UNIT
READY
or any other SCSI command. The host must see the Check Condi-
tion and perform
REQUEST
SENSE
at which time the sense data will be:
“Unit Attention, Power On, Reset, or Bus Device Reset Occurred
”
After the initiator has seen the Unit Attention, all valid SCSI commands become
operational. While the decoder is still initializing video and audio hardware for the
DECODER
(45h) command,
MPEG
PLAY
(A5h),
MPEG
WRITE
(2Ah), and
TEST
UNIT
READY
(00h), the decoder will return:
“Not Ready, Logical Unit is in Process of Becoming Ready
”
