CROSSMUTE Programming
Crossmute is used when more than one console is in audio range of each other. Transmitting on a
line that a parallel console is monitoring will produce audio feedback. The Crossmute feature prevents the line card
of a parallel console from driving the Unselect audio bus. This action takes that audio off the console speaker. The
C-6124 offers two methods of crossmuting lines. The first is a hardwire option that is available from the modular
connector at the back of each TLM. The second method is through use of the “C” and “D” DTMF characters. This
second method is enabled and disabled by following the screen progression shown above. In the tone-based
crossmute a DTMF “C” is transmitted before the burst tone and audio. A DTMF “D” is transmitted when
transmission has stopped. This is a convenient method if the letter DTMF digits are not used anywhere in the
system. The encoding and decoding of this feature are independently enabled or disabled by pressing the button to
the right of the text, which describes the parameter. The ON and OFF text in the button give the present status.
