8.2.7 Handset/Headset connector
J5 on the UIM Analog board is the interface for both the handset and headset (though only one may be
plugged in at a time). J5 is identified on the rear panel as HANDSET/HEADSET. The handset is plugged
directly into the modular jack. The headset must use the Vega HB-2 headset interface box. If a handset or
headset is being used JP3 on the UIM analog board must be in the A position. The following chart gives
level adjust information:
Potentiometer
Parameter
RV1
Transmit level out. Factory set so nominal voice level drives TP7 to about 600mVrms.
RV2
Side tone level to earpiece. This level will be affected by any adjustment of RV1.
Adjust for comfort.
RV3
Phone audio level to earpiece. This pot is for phone call audio only. Adjust for comfort.
RV5
Select audio level to earpiece. This pot is for Select audio only. Adjust for comfort.
8.2.8 Desk microphone/Gooseneck connector
J9 on the UIM Analog board is the interface for both the desk microphone and gooseneck microphone
(though only one may be plugged in at a time). J9 is identified on the rear panel of the UIM as DESK
MICROPHONE/ GOOSENECK MICROPHONE. The transmit level of this microphone input is controlled by
RV6. Place the microphone at the distance it would normally be from the operators’ mouth and adjust RV6
for the desired output level at TP21. This level is factory set for about 600mVrms at nominal voice level.
