Drive control systems
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
The Electronic Sta bility Control improves
driving stability when necessary,
independently of the type of road surfa ce
and the tyre grip. It a lso prevents the drive
wheels from spinning.
The system monitors vehicle m ovements.
As soon as the vehicle starts to swerve
(und ersteers / ov ersteers), engine output is
red uced (the sound of the engine changes)
and individual wheels are specifically
braked. This considerably im proves the
driving stability of the vehicle on snow and
ice and on wet or slipp ery road surfaces.

is sw itched on and the ESC control

When the ESC comes into action, control

cluster. Some noise or vibration may be
apparent.
The vehic le is now in a critical situation;
the ESC helps you to keep control of the
vehicle and remind s you to match your
speed to the road c onditions.

The control indicator illuminates in yellow
for approx. 4 seconds when the ig nition is
switched on. The system is ready for
operation w hen it exting uishes.
Flashing w hen driving;
The system has come into a ction. The
eng ine output m ay be red uced (the sound
of the engine c hanges) and the v ehicle
ma y be braked automatically to a small
degree.
Illuminated when driving;
Fault in the system. Poor road surface
conditions may cause v ehicle sta bility to be
impa ired.
Hav e the cause of the fault rem edied by a
workshop. The system ’s integrated self-
diag nostics allow s faults to be quickly
remedied.
