Mean Altitude
dialog right-click on the Profiler
application main screen and select
Mean Altitude
.
Note
If the option does not appear in the popup menu list then it may
be hidden – contact
Tritech International Ltd

enable this option.
In the derivation of the mean altitude value, each Profiler data point is first
measured and returned as a return path time. The system VOS (configured
from
Settings
option in the
Environment
menu) is then applied to this time
value to convert it into a slant range, which is the distance to the seabed at the
current angle of incidence. Using this polar data value, a range is calculated
and, if valid, is applied in the final mean altitude calculation (to be valid, the
range must be non-zero and within the
Filter Gating
restrictions).
When the mean altitude facility is enabled, the calculation is displayed in text
format on the Profiler application toolbar. The text box will only be visible when
mean altitude is enabled and the calculation is valid. There is also the option
to plot a reference line on the Profiler application to indicate the mean altitude
level.
