6. INSTALLATION AND SERVICES
6.1. PBX
connections
The installation procedure consists to connect up to four PBX’s analogs extension to T40. On the rear panel
of the device, there are four RJ sockets, one for each analog telephone line. Lines from PBX could be
connected to the internal contacts of the wall-mounting sockets coming with the unit, on screw marked “tip“
and “ring”. Then connect to T40 plugs by normal telephone lines cables.
On PBX, create a group of extension, corresponding to those connected to T40, then program PBX to divert
all incoming calls toward this group.
It is normal practice to leave one (or more) T40 line, out of the incoming group, using it only for outgoing
calls (message notification and signaling); this configuration is recommended in case the system receives
many messages in mailboxes and a fast mailbox status advice and heavy message playback is required.
The picture shows the T40 installation scheme. Incoming calls are diverted on the extension group where
T40 is connected.
The operator is supported by T40, not substituted by it. The device automatically connects callers to
extensions they can directly select or, for no selection, connect them to operator that will manage only no
automatically processed calls.
