9.9. Additional functions of the numeric keypad expansion
Having the keyboard expansion module for the visitor, it is possible to make the call by simply dialing the desired
number directly on the keyboard.
The numbering introduced is considered finished after about two seconds after entering the last digit by the visitor.
It is possible to speed up the selection by not waiting for the system timeout by pressing the (#)key at the end of the
number, in which case the call is made immediately.
The visitor, realizing that has made mistakes in the typing can immediately cancel what they have entered by
pressing the asterisk (*) key, the same key has the function of close the call if already in progress.
In addition to the direct dialing mode, the keypad has a Speed Dial function, in which it is possible to associate a
number to be called to each individual digit of the keypad (10 telephone numbers that can be associated with the
digits 0 to 9, with the possibility of differentiating between Day , Night and Interval.
Depending on how the system is located, the visitor can then contact one of the 30 numbers entered. The Speed
Dial mode is NOT exclusive but coexists with the possibility of direct dialing with the only exception that it is not
possible to directly dial numbers consisting of a single digit. Having to select the number of a single digit directly to
the visitor, the Speed Dial function cannot be used.
The Speed Dial function (pressure of the single digit of the keyboard) behaves in effect like the pressure of a button
of the basic system with the only difference that it is possible to set only one number for each selection. In practice,
for the user it is as if 10 more usable buttons were added.
By directly dialing the number to be called on the keypad it may be possible for the visitor to dial a number that is
not wanted to be dialed or at least reached (for example, outside the company).
To overcome this possibility, there is the possibility of programming a prefix that the system places before the
selection made by the visitor from time to time. If the numbers of the operators are in the numbering plan of the
PBX (therefore internal) it is sufficient to program this parameter with the first digit of this numbering plan and to
expose the legend for the visitors with the numbers to reach without the first digit. For example, to call the operator
within 311 it is necessary to program the prefix with the value 3 and indicate to the visitor to dial the number 11.
If instead there is the need to make the visitor contact only normal external telephone numbers, this parameter
could be useful if filled with the value of a code that indicates to the PBX to engage a given outgoing line regulated
by the desired service class, with restrictions on certain numbers of local calls when the PBX allows it (on long
distance calls, on paid service numbers, cellular network, etc.).
In the cases not contemplated here, remember to activate in any case a sort of control on the numbers that can be
made available to a generic visitor, a control that is totally dependent on the PBX regarding the extension number
where AA-600 is connected, in order to prevent unwanted or unauthorized calls that could be expensive.
AA-600 is also equipped with a special table of up to 60 characters that allows to create a filter on the selections
introduced by the visitor, in order to allow or refuse them, even without the PBX control, very useful service for the
systems equipped with the module full keyboard expansion.
