Chapter 5 – Infusion Site Care and Loading Cartridge
Instructions on How to Install
a Cartridge
PRECAUTION
If this is the very first time you are loading the
cartridge, remove the shipping canister (which is
not for human use), from the back of the pump.
1. From the Home Screen,
tap
OPTIONS .
2. Tap Load .
NOTE
During the load sequence, the Tandem
Logo is disabled. Tapping it will not return
to the Home Screen.
3. Tap Change Cartridge .
4. Screen will display that all insulin
deliveries will be stopped. Tap
YES to continue.
NOTE
This screen will not be displayed if this is
the first time loading a new cartridge and
you have not started actively pumping.
5. Disconnect the infusion set from
your body and tap
NEXT to
continue.
Z Z
“Preparing for Cartridge” screen
is displayed.
6. Remove the used cartridge and
install a filled cartridge. Tap
UNLOCK icon when completed.
NOTE
If needed, place the cartridge removal
tool or the edge of a coin in the slot at the
bottom of the cartridge and twist to aid in
the removal of the cartridge.
Place bottom of the cartridge at
the end of the pump. Make sure
cartridge is lined up to both
guide tracks.
Push on the circular fill port next to
the cartridge tubing to slide the
cartridge onto the pump.
7. Tap NEXT to continue.
Z Z
“Detecting Cartridge” screen
is displayed.
NOTE
After completing the cartridge change, the pump
will automatically prompt you to fill tubing.
WARNING
Do not remove or add insulin from a filled
cartridge after it is installed on the pump. This
will result in an inaccurate display of the insulin
level on the Home Screen.
