when
a

rather
than

Our
XMDM
uses
the
DTE
mode
in
order
to
function
as
a
remote
programming
terminal.
Any
system
with
an
XMDM
connected
thinks
there
is
an
actual
terminal
connected.
Workaround
‐
After
you
have
completed
any
on

site
programming
via
the
PC

are
using,
you
may
want
to
connect

XMDM

In
order
to
set
up
the
XMDM
properly,
one
of
the
following
procedures
MUST
be
performed
as
described.
If
the
steps
are
not
followed
exactly,
you
will
not
be
able
to
get
the
XMDM
to
function
properly
as
a
remote
terminal.
Scenario 1 -The system can be shut down to DOS and restarted:
1. Using
the
PC
terminal

down
the
system
to
DOS
per
the
system
manual.
2. Once
the
system
has
been
successfully
shut
down
to
the
C:\SYSTEM
prompt,
disconnect
your
PC
programming
terminal
from
the
system.
3. Connect
the
AC
adapter
and
turn
on
the
modem
power
switch.
Several
lights
should
illuminate.
4. Connect
the
MODEM
to
the
system
using
the
cable
and
adapter
supplied
with
the
modem.
5. Either
press
the
reset
button
on
the
front
of
the
card
or
cycle
the
power
switch
on
a
system
in
an
external
case.
6. Or
take
the
voice
off
line
at
a
DOS
prompt
and
call
into
the
modem.
The
system
will
now
come
on
‐
line.
After
3
‐
4
minutes
the
screensaver
will
activate
and
the
MODEM
will
be
ready
to
receive
calls.
Scenario 2 -The system cannot be shut down to DOS and restarted at the current time:
1. Using
the
PC
terminal
press

2. Disconnect
your
PC
programming
terminal
from
the

3. Connect
the
AC
adapter
and
turn
on
the
modem
power
switch.
Several
lights
should
come
on.
4. Connect
the
MODEM
to
the
system
using
the
cable
and
adapter
supplied
with
the
Modem.
After
the
system
runs
the
next
nightly
cleanup
and
reboots,
the
MODEM
will
activate
properly
and
you
will
be
able
to
call
into
the
system.
You
will
NOT
be
able
to
call
into
the

has
occurred.
