3.4.1
Replacing the System Battery (CRU)
The system battery is a customer replaceable unit (CRU). It is located on the
motherboard. If an optional RAID Expansion Module is installed, you must remove
the card to access the battery.

To Replace the System Battery
1. Power off the server module, and remove the server module from the chassis
(see
“To Remove the Server Module From the Chassis” on page 3-13
).
Caution –
Possible chassis shutdown. Do not operate the system with empty slots.
Always insert a filler into an empty slot to reduce the possibility of module
shutdown.
2. Remove the main cover as described in
“To Remove the Main Cover” on
page 3-15
.
3. If a RAID expansion module (REM) card is present, remove the card (
see
“To
Remove a RAID Expansion Module” on page 3-38
)
.
The system battery is located on the motherboard (see
FIGURE 3-7
).
4. Remove the battery by gently pulling the clip away from the edge of the battery
and lifting the battery straight up. See
FIGURE 3-7
