11. Troubleshooting
Problem
Cause
Remedy
The pump is not ven-
tilated.
Air leak due to a loose valve nut
Tighten the valve nut
Air leak due to worn o-rings
Replace the o-ring on the valve seat and the o-ring
below the valve seat
Bypass valve does not open
Clean or replace the bypass valve
Jammed or damaged balls
Maintain the inlet and outlet valves
The pump ventilates
but builds up virtually
no pressure, or insuffi-
cient pressure
Pressure set too low
Increase the pressure
Clogged filter
Clean the gun filter, the inlet filter and/or the device fil-
ter, or replace them as needed.
Outlet valve jammed/worn.
Maintain the outlet valve
Ventilation/pressure relief valve is
bypassed
Clean the ventilation/pressure relief valve, or replace it.
Packing elements and/or piston
worn
Tighten the gland nut; replace the packing element and
the piston if necessary.
The unit does not
maintain good spra-
ying pressure
Worn or defective spraying nozzle
Replace the spraying nozzle.
Packing elements and/or piston
worn
Replace the worn parts.
Upper valve seat worn
Replace the worn seat.
The device will not
switch on
Control settings
Make sure the mains plug on the device is plugged in.
Make sure that the ON/OFF switch is set to the ON
position and that the pressure regulator knob is fully
clockwise (max. pressure)
Pressure regulation unit (controller
card)
If the power display does not illuminate after checking
the control settings and the power source, you will need
to replace the pressure regulating unit
Motor
Remove the cover on the carbon brushes and switch the
device on. Set the potentiometer to maximum pressure
and check the DC voltage on all the brush connectors.
The voltage should be more than 80 V (DC).
If DC voltage is present, switch off the device and dis-
connect the mains plug. Make sure that the brushes
contact the rotor. Replace the brushes if they are less
than 1.6 mm in length. If the brushes are OK, replace
the motor.
If there is no DC voltage, see pressure sensor.
The device will not
switch on
Pressure sensor
Fit a different pressure sensor on the controller card. If
the device starts, the old sensor is defective.
If the sensor passes all the tests, see pressure regula-
ting button (potentiometer).
Pressure regulator button (poten-
tiometer)
Fit a different potentiometer on the control panel. If the
device starts, the old potentiometer is defective.
If DC voltage is present on the motor brushes, and both
the sensor and the pressure regulating button are wor-
king, replace the pressure regulator unit.
