Problem
Action
No output in Monopolar
with No Fault Message.
Check the electrical continuity of the monopolar active cord or replace
with a known working monopolar active cord. Check all connections.
If no thermal effect continues, contact STERIS Customer Service.
Argon Gas Bottle icon
does not appear.
Remove the Argon Gas Bottle by turning counterclockwise and
remove it from the gi4000. Inspect the brass threads for damage. If
the threads are undamaged, while using gloved hands, pour a few
drops of sterile water onto clean gauze and lightly wipe around the
brass threads.
Reinsert the Argon Gas Bottle into the gi4000, continue turning
clockwise firmly until the bottle is fully engaged. This can be
anywhere from ¼ to 2 full turns tighter, even after seeing the
GREEN
Argon Gas Bottle icon appear. Do not stop turning until the bottle is
fully seated and cannot be turned any tighter to prevent argon from
leaking at the bottle.
Depleting argon gas bottle.
Insert the Argon Gas Bottle into the gi4000, continue turning
clockwise firmly until the bottle is fully engaged. This can be
anywhere from ¼ to 2 full turns tighter, even after seeing the
GREEN
Argon Gas Bottle icon appear. Do not stop turning until the bottle is
fully seated and cannot be turned any tighter to prevent argon from
leaking at the bottle.
Backflow into the
ArConnect® Receptacle.
Do not disconnect ArConnect® argon probe or argon probe from the
gi4000 until the procedure is complete. The positive pressure system
will constantly flow argon through ArConnect® receptacle to the
probe as long as they remain connected. Once disconnected and if
the argon probe remains in the endoscope, backpressure will drip
through the probe to ArConnect®.
Weak or difficulty in
achieving argon beam.
Confirm that ArConnect® argon probe is fully connected to the
gi4000. Inspect for any functional abnormality (i.e. torn insulation,
damage) and if any irregularities are noted, call STERIS Customer
Service for a return authorization number. For easier insertion of
ArConnect® argon probe into the gi4000, while using gloved hands
pour a few drops of sterile water onto clean gauze and lightly wipe
around the perimeter of the black O-ring. Insert ArConnect® argon
probe into the gi4000 ESU by
pushing in and lifting up
until an
audible click is heard, confirming a positive connection. Increase
power in increments of two until the desired arc is achieved.
Remember to purge and gauge appropriate probe and scope
distance to the tissue.
