Power the gi4000 ESU ON by pushing the power ON/OFF switch located at the lower
left of the unit. The system will go through the Power ON Self-Test (POST) and, if
successful will default to the Monopolar Method in Coag Mode.
6.
Inspect the function and performance of the system.
If any irregularity,
abnormality, or substandard performance is discovered, DO NOT USE THE
UNIT. When in doubt, please contact STERIS Customer Service at 1-800-769-
8226 or your local STERIS Endoscopy Electrosurgery Specialist.
•
Visually verify all front panel LED indicators are illuminated. During the POST,
all LEDs should illuminate and cycle.
•
Verify touchscreen function by pressing each method and mode of operation
on the LCD.
•
Verify the functionality of Standby Mode by pressing the standby icon on the
touchscreen display. To exit Standby Mode, press anywhere on the LCD.
•
To verify footswitch functionality, complete the following:
i. Ensure there is no patient dispersive electrode attached to the PSS
receptacle. Press the power pedal. A notification should appear on the
touchscreen display.
ii. Press the standby button. Visually verify the touchscreen display
shows the system in Standby Mode. Press the power pedal. Verify
there is no audible alert tone. Press the irrigation pedal. Visually verify
the pump head rotates. Press the standby button again to exit Standby
Mode. Visually verify the touchscreen display returns to the previous
method/mode.
iii. Press the irrigation pedal. Visually verify the pump head rotates.
