9.0 System Installation and Setup
9.1 Unpacking the gi4000 ESU
Carefully unpack the gi4000 System from the shipping carton, conserving the packing material
until you are certain that the product order is correct and undamaged. All of the following items
are included in the package with a new unit:
•
gi4000 Electrosurgical Unit
•
Footswitch
•
Power Cord
•
Water Bottle Holder
•
User Positional Accessory Cord Clip
•
User and Service Manual
•
Serialized Test Data Summary Sheet
9.2 Installation - gi4000 ESU
1. Prior to clinical use, familiarize yourself with the gi4000 ESU.
If there is evidence of
damage to the gi4000 ESU or accessories, DO NOT USE the system and contact
STERIS Customer Service.
2. Be certain that all Warnings and Precautions have been read, understood and
followed. See section
6.0 Information for Safety
.

with the gi4000 system and its features.
4. The gi4000 ESU should be placed on a stable, horizontal surface. If a mobile cart is
to be used, be certain that it provides adequate stability and strength to support the
electrosurgical unit and accessories. Users may choose to use the optional GoCart
Mobile Cart. If using the GoCart Mobile Cart, reference section

5. Prior to connecting the Power Cord to the unit and plugging it into the AC mains outlet,
be certain of the following:
•
Ensure that the selected wall outlet has a proper ground connection and
complies with the input requirements as listed on the back panel of the unit and
section
8.7 Technical Specifications: Input Power

•
Ensure that the Power ON/OFF Switch, is in the OFF position (the “O” on the
Power ON/OFF Switch should be pressed inward).
•
Visually inspect the Power Cord that is used to provide power to the gi4000
ESU. If it is worn, frayed, or damaged, replace it immediately with a STERIS
Endoscopy supplied Power Cord.
