10.0 Using the gi4000
10.1 Pre-Procedural Setup
10.1.1 Power ON Self-Test (POST)
1.
Prior to clinical use, familiarize yourself with the gi4000.
If there is evidence of
damage to the gi4000 ESU or accessories, DO NOT USE it and contact STERIS
Customer Service.

followed. See section

Before each use of the gi4000 ESU, visually inspect the system and accessories for
damage.
If any irregularity, abnormality, or substandard performance is
discovered, DO NOT USE THE UNIT. When in doubt, please contact STERIS
Customer Service at 1-800-769-8226 or your local STERIS Endoscopy
Electrosurgery Specialist.
•
Visually inspect the gi4000 ESU enclosure and touchscreen display for
damaged, loose or missing parts. All hardware and screws should be secure.
•
Visually inspect the power cord for cuts, fraying or insulation damage.
•
Visually inspect the power cord lock and power cord receptacle. The power
cord lock should be secure and the receptacle should have the fuse box fully
installed.
•
Verify the power cord fits securely in the power cord receptacle.
•
Visually inspect the water bottle holder. The bracket should be secured tightly
to the holder.
•
Visually inspect the argon bottle port. The argon gas bottle should insert into
the argon bottle port with minimal resistance. If you have difficulty installing
the argon gas bottle, reference instructions in section
9.4.2 Installing the
Argon Gas Bottle.
•
Visually inspect the ventilation ports on the unit for accumulated dust/debris.
To remove, use a dry, static free cloth to wipe vent ports clean.
•
Visually inspect the receptacles on the front panel of the system for cleanliness
and proper fit of accessories.
NOTE:
During use of the gi4000 ESU, the user should be within three to five feet of the
unit to interact with the touchscreen display and unit features.
NOTE:
During the POST, do not touch the touchscreen display.
NOTE:
During the POST, do not press the pedals on the gi4000 footswitch.
