If the fault still persists when the guard has been closed, please
contact Specac for further advice.
Fault 3: The motor/pump runs but the main pressing piston
surface (7) does not raise (with no sample or metal block
in the press).
Cause: The oil level in the system is too low.
Remedy: Fill oil reservoir to correct level with the piston cylinder fully
retracted and proceed to bleed any air in the oil out of the
system using the Oil Kit of parts P/N GS25880 – Press
Service Procedure 2S-25880-2.
Fault 4: The oil pressure is not increasing and hence there is no
rise in applied load with a solid block of metal in the
press.
Cause: There is air trapped in the pumping system.
Remedy: Fill oil reservoir to correct level with the piston cylinder fully
retracted and proceed to bleed any air in the oil out of the
system using the Oil Kit of parts P/N GS25880 – Press
Service Procedure 2S-25880-2.
Fault 5: A tonnage load can be applied but the load cannot be
held and decreases.
Cause A: The sample itself is collapsing/yielding under force.
Remedy: Check there is no fault with press system by using a solid
metal block to press.
Cause B: There is a loss of oil (oil leak) from the system.
Remedy: Check for signs of oil beneath the electronics box (possible
motor/pump problem) or beneath the pressing frame area
(possible piston cylinder assembly problem). If there is an oil
leak contact Specac and give serial number of press.
Replace the main piston assembly from the Atlas™
Autotouch 8T/15/25T Press using the Piston Assembly Kit of
parts P/N GS25881 – Press Service Procedure 2S-25881-2.
