• Metric type specifies the way to advertise routes to destinations outside
the AS via External LSAs. Specify Type 1 to add the internal cost metric
to the external route metric. In other words, the cost of the route from
any router within the AS is equal to the cost associated with reaching the
advertising ASBR, plus the cost of the external route. Specify Type 2 to
only advertise the external route metric.
Example
This example redistributes routes learned from RIP as Type 1 external routes.

This command defines an OSPF area and the interfaces that operate within
this area. Use the
no
form to disable OSPF for a specified interface.

- Network mask of the address range to add to the area.

area-id
- Area to which the specified address or range is assigned. An
OSPF area identifies a group of routers that share common routing
information. (The area ID must be in the form of an IP address.)
