Compass Source
There are a number of separate inputs for the many different types of compasses that may
be used with the
SP38
(N2000, Analog, Nav1 and Nav2) system. You may choose to have
more than one type connected at any given time. This menu item allows you to switch from
one to another whenever the operator chooses.
The selected input can be the same one used for the Navigation data source and/or the
Speed source.
The next table summarizes all available input ports in
SP38
SPU.

Compass Cal - Compass Calibration
This feature allows you to synchronize the compass on the autopilot with an external source.
Simply turn the COURSE CHANGE knob until the Compass Cal value reads the same as
your reference source.
NOTE
:
For safety reasons, Compass Cal may not be adjusted in
AUTO
or
NAV
modes,
so it does not appear if the Standby menu is entered in one of those modes.
NMEA Hdg Type
If you use N
MEA
2000, NAV1 or NAV2 for your heading source, you have the option to select
True or Magnetic as your heading reference. This is useful if your NMEA 0183 device output
both HDT and HDM, and you want to use the magnetic heading. If you select Auto, the
autopilot will select the heading reference based on its internal priority order described
below.
For NAV1 or NAV2, heading may come from HDG, HDT, or HDM in high to low priority order.
For NMEA 2000 PGN 127250, the True or Magnetic reference type is used.
Battery
This is a read-only display that cannot be changed. The number shown is the battery voltage
as measured at the Signal Processor Unit.
