9. Reconnect the shift lever (D, Figure 28) to the trans-
mission shift shaft (E) using the original hardware.
The shift shaft can be accessed through a circular
access hole in the battery compartment
(A, Figure 27).
10. Engage the parking brake.
11. Rotate the drive belt (A, Figure 29) onto the transmis-
sion input pulley (B).
12. Reconnect the wire harness to the neutral safety
switch (C, Figure 29).
13. Reinstall the rear wheels (see REAR WHEEL
INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL, Section 6).
14. Perform the transmission neutral adjustment (see
NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT, Section 4) in necessary.
