9 Drive Controls Service
Tuff Torq K-56 Models

GENERAL
This section is organized by transmission type:
• Tuff Torq K-56 Models
• Hydro-Gear 0500 / 0650 Models
• Peerless Models
Each transmission section contains procedures for
removal and installation of various drive control linkages
and components.
WARNING
Before beginning any service work, turn the PTO
off,set the parking brake, turn the ignition switch
off, remove the key, disconnect the spark plug
wire, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
TUFF TORQ K-56 MODELS
Pedal Assembly Removal & Installation
1. Park the tractor on a flat level surface, such as a con-
crete floor, and block the wheels. Do not engage the
parking brake.
2. Remove the mower deck.
3. Remove the rubber pad from the brake pedal by
twisting and pulling the pad.
4. Refer to Figure 2. Remove the cotter pin and washer
from the brake rod (C) and disconnect the brake rod
from the brake pedal arm.
5. Disconnect the transmission control rod (D, Figure 3)
from the hydro control lever. Remove the nut, wash-
ers, spacer, and carriage bolt.
6. Remove the 4 nylock nuts (A) securing the tube
clamp. Push on the top of the foot rest pad to hold
the carriage bolts in place.
7. Remove the tube clamp.
8. Remove the pedal assembly.
Install in reverse order of removal. After installation, per-
form BRAKE & BRAKE SPRING ADJUSTMENT and
GROUND SPEED CONTROL FOOT PEDAL ADJUST-
MENT procedures found in Section 4.
