Foot Pedal Assembly Removal &
Installation
Refer to Figure 8.
1. Park the tractor on a flat level surface, such as a con-
crete floor, and block the wheels. Do not engage the
parking brake.
2. Remove the mower deck.
3. Remove the rubber pad from the brake pedal by
twisting and pulling the pad.
4. Remove the cotter pin and washer from the brake rod
(A) and disconnect the brake rod (A) from the brake
pedal arm.
NOTE: Pulling the drive belt away from the bottom of the
tractor will release tension on the brake rod for easier
removal from the brake pedal arm.
5. Disconnect the transmission control rod (B) from the
hydro control lever. Remove the nut, washer, spacer,
and carriage bolt.
6. Remove the 4 nylock nuts (C) securing the tube
clamp (D). Push on the top of the foot rest pad to
hold the carriage bolts in place.
7. Remove the tube clamp (D).
8. Remove the pedal assembly.
Install in reverse order of removal. After installation, per-
form BRAKE & BRAKE SPRING ADJUSTMENT and
GROUND SPEED CONTROL FOOT PEDAL ADJUST-
MENT procedures in Section 4.
Brake Linkage Removal & Installation
Refer to Figure 9.
FRONT BRAKE ROD
1. Block the wheels and release the parking brake.
2. Disconnect the brake spring (E) from the back of the
parking brake lever (C).
3. Remove the cotter pin and washer (A) from both
ends of the front brake rod (B).
4. Pull the drive belt away from the bottom of the frame
to release tension on the brake rod (B), and remove
the brake rod (B).
REAR BRAKE ROD, SPRING, & ROD GUIDE
1. Block the wheels and release the parking brake.
2. Remove the brake spring nut (T) and brake
spring (U).
3. Remove the cotter pin and washer (A) from the back

4. If necessary, pull the drive belt way from the bottom
of the frame to release tension on the brake rod.
5. Slide the rod (F) out between the frame and transmis-
sion carrier.
Install in reverse order of removal.
PARKING BRAKE LINKAGE
1. Block the wheels and disengage the parking brake.
2. Remove the parking brake knob (W).
3. From below the tractor, pull the parking brake rod (D)
out from the bottom of the frame.
4. Remove the parking brake lever spring (E).
5. Remove the cotter pin and washer (A) from the back
of the front brake rod (B).
6. Remove the parking brake lever (C).
Install in the reverse order of disassembly.
