Testing of the binary inputs and outputs — example
Changing the Oper-
ating State
To change the operating state of a hardware component, click on the associated
switching field in the
Scheduled
column.
Before executing the first change of the operating state the password No. 6 will be re-
quested (if activated during configuration). After entry of the correct password a con-
dition change will be executed. Further state changes remain enabled until the dialog
box is closed.
Test of the Binary
Outputs
Each individual output relay can be energized allowing a check of the wiring between
the output relay of the 7SD5 and the plant, without having to generate the message
that is assigned to the relay. As soon as the first change of state for any one of the
output relays is initiated, all output relays are separated from the internal device func-
tions, and can only be operated by the hardware test function. This means, for exam-
ple, a TRIP command coming from a protection function or a control command from
the operator panel to an output relay cannot be executed.
Proceed as follows in order to check the output relay :
• Make sure that the switching operations caused by the output relays can be execut-
ed without any danger (see above under DANGER!).
• Each output relay must be tested via the corresponding
Scheduled
cell in the
dialog box.
• Finish the testing (see margin heading below „Exiting the Procedure“), so that
during further testings no unwanted switchings are initiated.
Test of the Binary
Inputs
To test the wiring between the plant and the binary inputs of the 7SD5 the condition in
the system which initiates the binary input must be generated and the response of the
device checked.
To do so, open the dialog box
Hardware Test
again to view the physical position of
the binary input. The password is not yet required.
