BULLETIN NUMBER: 4027/4527/5035/5535/4022/4522 - 028 REISSUE
★
02/28/97
APPLICABLE MODEL: FT5035/5535/4027/4527/4022/4522
SUBJECT:
BLACK LINES ON COPIES AND/OR HIGH-PITCHED NOISE
SYMPTOM:
Black lines on copies and/or a high pitched noise coming from the drum cavity.
CAUSE:
The Development Entrance Seal (AA152333) is in contact with the drum resulting in scratches on the O
PC
surface. The following scenarios could be responsible for contact between the Drum and Entrance Sea
l:
1. The outside Entrance Seal [A] bends in a Z shape (Figure 1). The Drum may be scratched when
foreign material is caught between the Drum and the Seal.
2. When the inside Entrance Seal [B] is longer than the outside Entrance Seal, the Drum may be
scratched due to pressure created by the Developer if foreign material gets caught between the
Drum and the outside Entrance Seal [A] (Figure 2).
3. Glue is transferred to the OPC surface from adhesive backed throughput materials (labels, etc...) or
from the backside of the Development Entrance Seal. Occasionally, the glue is then transferred to
the Entrance Seal when the drum turns in reverse. This results in the deformation of the Entrance
Seal on the Development Unit.
NOTE: If the outside Entrance Seal detaches, it may wrap around the Magnetic Roller and cause
developer to spill out of the Development Unit.
