Linx DVI Matrix Switchers User’s Guide
1
This manual describes the installation and operation of the
Linx™ DVI Matrix Switcher
family.
Covered models include the
Linx 3200S
,
Linx 3200, Linx 1600
,
Linx 800S
, and
Linx 800
. Where model-
specific differences exist, the
Linx 3200/Linx3200S
property will be used in the text followed by the
Linx 1600
and
Linx 800S/Linx 800
in braces { }.
The
Linx DVI Matrix Switcher
is a high-performance, non-blocking switcher available in
configurations up to 32 {16, 8} inputs by 32 {16, 8} outputs. Each unit delivers pure digital switching
and routing of DVI signals with full pixel re-clocking. When combined with digital signal sources,
digital displays and cabling, it allows fully digital end-to-end signal distribution.
Each DVI input accepts signals up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz as well as HDTV resolutions up to 2048
x 1080p. A modular architecture simplifies I/O card replacement should it ever be needed.
The
Linx DVI Switcher
supports HDCP, allowing it to accommodate content-protected signals from
HDMI™ sources. An HDCP encoded signal can be routed to all outputs simultaneously, possibly
subject to limitations of the source device or media. With firmware release 2.3, HDCP can be turned
off for inputs receiving signals from non-HDCP sources.
EDID management and control are simplified with RGB Spectrum’s Total EDID Manager™, which
provides the user with the most complete set of management tools available. This highly advanced
system offers the user a choice between fixed, pass-through or emulated EDID. The Total EDID
Manager eliminates the need for external EDID emulators.
Maintaining digital signal integrity is crucial in a digital switcher. Jitter and signal distortion errors are
corrected with precision pixel re-clocking, resulting in pristine digital images.
Each input features built-in cable equalization to extend cable lengths without the need for external
extenders. The
Linx DVI Switcher
can supply up to 500
mA of 5-Volt power to a single output port for
pin-powered devices such as cables or extenders, eliminating the need for external power supplies.
Control is via Ethernet and RS-232 serial ports. An internal server for switcher control is accessible
from any web browser; no special software is required on the user's PC. Front panel controls on the
Linx 3200
and
Linx 1600
provide quick access to call up presets or create a routing assignment.
