The RCU uses Reader information files to identify the Readers installed within an institution. Once a
Reader has been identified, you can use the RCU to change Reader-specific settings.
A USB flash drive is used to transfer Reader settings between the Reader and the RCU.

To change Reader-specific settings in a non-networked environment: Insert a USB flash drive into an
available USB port on the CM. Ensure that the USB drive contains four folders named:
lqc, patient,
iqc,
and
log
.
Navigate to the Settings menu (
Menu
>
Settings
) and select
Export Configuration
.
Select
Export to USB Flash Drive
. All settings files and result logs are exported.
(Optional) Export the configurations for additional Readers.
Insert the USB flash drive into the RCU computer’s USB drive.
From the RCU, click
File
>
Open
and select
USB Device
(navigate to the correct location of the USB
device if this function does not work automatically).
Select
Files of Type: Readers
, select the desired Reader serial number and then click
Open
. On the
Reader Settings
menu, you can now define changes to settings for the selected Reader.
To change Reader-specific settings in a networked environment:
Each Reader must be placed into network mode and must be assigned a device information directory
prior to successful bi-directional communications.

Using the Reader touchscreen, select
Menu
>
Settings
>
Edit Settings
>
File
tab. The
File
tab
appears.
Enter the
Device
and
Group Directory
settings for the Reader as defined in the RCU.
Select the
Misc
tab and enable the
Auto Transfer Mode
option.
From the RCU, select
File
>
Open
and then select
Network
.
Select
Files of Type: Readers
, browse to the device directory for the Reader of interest, select the
desired Reader serial number and then click
Open
. On the
Reader Settings
menu, you can now
define changes to settings for the selected Reader.
