PiXtend eIO Hardware Manual
Connection Notes
The power supply of PiXtend eIO is realized via a regulated and short-circuit proof power
supply with an output voltage between 19 and 30 V DC. The power supply must comply
with the legal requirements of the country in which the system is used. When purchasing a
power supply, pay attention to the appropriate test mark.
Usable power supplies can also be found in our
The internal voltage converter on PiXtend eIO devices has an energy reserve. This
ensures an uninterruptible power supply with voltage drops at the supply input of 10
milliseconds. The energy reserve is designed to ensure said bridging time throughout the
life of the equipment.
If several PiXtend eIO devices are operated in a system, each device must be started up
with separate lines - from a central point (for example, from the power supply unit or a
central terminal block). The so-called "looping" of the supply from one module to the next
is not recommended. This can lead to unwanted voltage drop, which means that the
modules are no longer correctly supplied.
The separate wiring of each module supply becomes more important the more modules
are used in a system.
