Summary:

Line or bus structure must be adhered to

"Loop through" the signal lines at PiXtend eIO
•
no stubs, no star structures
•
All devices on the bus / network require a common ground reference
•
Entrainment of GND (3-wire RS485) is mandatory with Modbus, otherwise usually
useful, but not mandatory
•
Termination resistors (120 Ω) exactly 2x per bus - at the beginning and at the end of
the bus structure
