PiXtend eIO Hardware Manual
6.5.2.Analog Outputs
PiXtend eIO Analog One has four analog voltage outputs (0..10 V) and two analog current
outputs (0..20 mA - true zero / 4..20 mA - live zero). All analog outputs on PiXtend eIO
have a resolution of 12 bits (value range 0..4095).
Applications
–
Supply and control of small loads: mini DC motor, light emitting diode(s)
–
Function generator (output of sine, square and triangle voltages, etc.)
–
Connection to analog inputs of other controllers, power amplifiers and frequency
converters
–
Lighting solutions in building technology
–
Can be used with active and passive inputs of the remote station
–
Control analog & digital display devices
–
Reliable and robust signal transmission over long distances (4..20 mA)
The two voltage outputs are short-circuit proof and can drive a current of 20 mA during
normal operation. The current outputs withstand loads from short circuit to wire break and
can drive a load of up to 600 Ω. The electronics on PiXtend eIO monitor the current
outputs and can detect overload / wire break and inform the bus master.
All six analog outputs are supplied via the central power supply of PiXtend eIO and do not
require a separate infeed.
All analog outputs on PiXtend comply with the requirements of the PLC standard
IEC / EN 61131-2.
