Frequent Media Jams
1 Check that the media does not exceed the media limit mark.
Make sure that the stack does not exceed the paper limit mark on
the media cassette.
2 Check that the paper stack is correctly aligned.
Make sure that the stack is correctly aligned in the media cas-
sette or in the multipurpose tray.
3 Check that the correct paper type is used.
See appendix B, “Technical Specifications,” for media specifica-
tions.
4 Check the printer for residual jammed media.
5 Remove any jammed media remaining inside the printer by
checking the locations in “Media Jams” on page 7-15.
Printer Will Not Duplex

If the error message
Duplexer absent
appears in the mes-
sage window, make sure you have the optional duplexer correctly
installed. See the chapter 4, “Printer Options,” for information on
installing the duplexer.

If the printer continues printing simplex, you may need additional
memory allocated to the frame buffer. See chapter 4, “Printer
Options,” for additional information on memory required for
duplexing.
Print Quality Problems
The following list includes several image defects with possible solu-
tions. Try the solutions in the sequence given. If the solutions listed
don’t solve the problem, place a service call to your QMS vendor. See
“Placing a Service Call” on page 7-33.
