MAGNETIC ENCODING PROBLEMS
Problem
Probable Causes
Possible Solutions
Magnetic Encoding is
inconsistent, some Cards swipe
and others do not.
1.
Cards are not moving smoothly over the
Magnetic Encoder Head during the
encoding cycle.
2.
Feed Rollers are slipping or not moving
the Card efficiently.
3.
Magnetic Verification is deselected.

Clean the Printer using the recommended Magicard
Cleaning Cards.

Select Verification option in the Printer Driver.
Cards are not encoded.
1.
Blank Cards have been placed in the
Hopper the wrong way round and
magnetic Verification is deselected.
2.
Magnetic Encoded data is in the wrong
place on the Magnetic Stripe.
3.
Magnetic Encoded data is not the correct
format for the swipe Reader.
4.
Magnetic Encoding Head is either mis-
aligned or faulty.
1.
Position the Card in the Hopper with the magnetic stripe
underneath and to the left side of the Printer. Ensure
Magnetic Verification is selected in the Printer Driver.
2.
Clean the Printer using the recommended Magicard
Cleaning Cards.
3.
Ensure the Driver settings reflect the type of magnetic stripe
cards being used, e.g. HICO or LOCO.
4.
Contact Magicard Technical Support
Cards are not encoded
(individual Tracks missing data).
1.
Magnetic Encoding Head is dirty.
2.
Magnetic Encoding Head is either mis-
aligned or faulty.
1.
Clean the Printer using the recommended Magicard
Cleaning Cards.
