Address assignment via DIP switch
Setting the address prior
to mounting
A 10-pos. DIP switch is located on the side of the Smart Element.
The DIP switch is used to set the PROFIsafe address (F-Address).
Set the address via the DIP switch
prior
to mounting.
PROFIsafe addresses 1 to 1022 (1
hex
to 3FE
hex
) are permitted.
Addresses 0 and 1023 (3FF
hex
) are
invalid
addresses.
By default, the address is set to 0 (invalid address).

DIP switch
MSB
The most significant bit (MSB) has the highest value.
LSB
The least significant bit (LSB) has the lowest value.
The set address is only applied on power-up. If the address is adjusted during operation,
the Smart Element responds with an error message.
