7 • SmartNode 2400 installation
Note
Pins not listed are not used.
Connecting to an external power source
Depending on how your SmartNode 2400 is configured for connection to an AC power source, see section
“Installing the AC power cable”
on page 110. Otherwise, to connect the SmartNode 2400 to a DC power
source, see section
“Installing the DC power cable”
on page 112.
Installing the AC power cable
This section describes installing the power cable into the IEC-320 connector on the SmartNode 2400. Do not
connect the remaining end of the power cable to the power outlet at this time. Do the following:
1. Install the power cable into the IEC-320 connector (see
figure 77
on page 111). The AC mains socket out-
let shall be within 10 feet (3 meters) of the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

Hazardous network voltages are present in the PRI cables. If you detach the
cable, detach the end away from the SmartNode or interface card first to avoid
possible electric shock. Network hazardous voltages may be present on the
device in the area of the PRI port, regardless of when power is turned OFF.
To prevent damage to the system, make certain you connect the
PRI cable to the PRI port only and not to any other RJ-45 socket.
The SmartNode 2400 power supply automatically adjusts to
accept an input voltage from 100 to 240 VAC (50–60 Hz).
Verify that the proper voltage is present before plugging the
power cord into the receptacle. Failure to do so could result in
equipment damage.
There shall be
no
switches or disconnect devices in the
earth conductor.
