6.10.2 What Is Contour Matching?
Contour Matching function can find where an image being similar to a saved base image (template) is within a
search area. The number of checkers that can be saved is up to only four for each product type including
Rotation Adjustment (Contour) checkers. If the image being similar to a template was detected, the X/Y
coordinate values, Rotation Angle (in 0.1 degree), and Correlation (Corr.) are output and it is judged as "OK";
otherwise, it is judged as "NG".
The difference in the gray value of the template is regarded as contour information. The PV310 checks whether
an image is equal or similar to the template image on the basis of the contour information. If an image being
similar to the template exists and the degree of similarity between the image and template image is more than the
degree of similarity you have set, it will be detected. But, if there are multiple images that are similar to the
template, the position of the image with the highest correlation value will be set as a detection position.

Use Conditions for Contour Matching Checkers
In Contour Matching, the PV310 can scan only the images captured in the following modes:
•
D.S. Random Frame
•
Normal
Frame
•
Int. Sync Mode Frame
In any other mode than the modes listed above, you cannot create any more Contour Matching checkers. If you
changed the camera mode to each field modes and attempt to edit the existing Contour Matching checker, the
following message appears:
"E0101 Contour Matching is not available in Field mode.
Set Camera Mode to Frame or restore the frame image."
In addition, if you restored the images captured in the Field mode that are saved on the Compact Flash memory
card, the PV310 cannot run a test and the error code “E0101” is displayed in the message area.
