Shutting down the system to add or replace hardware
To install or replace an option card or a DIMM, you must first shut down the
Contivity 1700 and unplug it.
To shut down the Contivity 1700:

Use the Web GUI or the command line interface to shut down the gateway.
•
Web GUI: Choose Admin > Shutdown. Select the option to power off the
gateway after shutdown.
•
Command line interface: Use the
reload
command to shut down the
system. For example, enter
reload power-off disable-logins

Wait for the system to shut down.

Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and then disconnect the cord
from the Contivity 1700.
The power receptacle is located on the rear of the Contivity 1700 (see
Figure 7
on page 31
).
Caution:
Shut down the Contivity 1700 as described in this section
before you attempt to add or replace an option card or DIMM.
Danger:
Make sure to turn off the Contivity 1700 and unplug the power
cord before you attempt to remove or install an option card or DIMM.
