Basic Steps
These seven steps will complete a typical installation and configuration of your wireless firewall:
1.
Connect the wireless firewall physically to your network.
If connecting to the Internet
through an external broadband modem, power off the modem and then connect the 10/100
Ethernet WAN port of the DGFV338 to the Ethernet port of the external broadband modem.
If connecting through the built-in ADSL modem, connect the DSL WAN port of the
DGFV338 to a microfilter, and then connect the microfilter to your phone jack (see
“Using
ADSL Microfilters (optional)” on page 2-2
for instructions on using microfilters). In regions
that do not require a microfilter, connect the DSL WAN port directly to your phone jack.
For additional instructions on connecting your ProSafe DGFV338, refer to the
DGFV338
ProSafe Wireless ADSL Modem VPN Firewall Router Installation Guide
on your Resource CD
or to the NETGEAR Website for an online electronic copy.
2.
Restart your network in the correct sequence.
It is important to follow the correct order in
which you restart your network — first the broadband modem, then the DGFV338, then your
PC. Check the LEDs and make sure the test lights are working appropriately.
