The diagram shows the vacuum (kPa) vs airflow
(Nm

/h) with a variable frequency 20-60 Hz where
the vacuum level is set to 30 kPa and the vacuum con-
trol valve is at 37 kPa.
Line A is the vacuum/airflow in operation.
4 Before installation
Check the RBU unit for any transport damages. In case
of damage or parts missing, notify the carrier and your
local Nederman representative immediately. It is re-
commended to transport the RBU unit to the installa-
tion site while still in the factory packing.
4.1 Location
Prepare the location where the RBU unit is to be
placed before installation. An open working space
around the unit is necessary for maintenance. A gap of
at least 0.7 meter in front of the unit is required to al-
low for opening of the unit.
4.2 Foundation
The unit must be anchored to a hard, level and firm
foundation, such as a concrete foundation.
Consider the total weight of the unit with accessories
when calculating the foundation or supporting struc-
ture, see

5 Installation
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Use ear protection and safety goggles during
the installation of the unit.
The unit can be placed indoors or outdoors.
Consider the following when installing the RBU unit:
• The foundation is to be level and hard, see
• Install the RBU unit away from heat sources or hot
surfaces.
• Ensure that service and maintenance are conveni-
ent.
• Beware of hot air from the outlet.
• The pump and outlet are to be clearly marked indic-
ating their potential to cause burn injuries. It is re-
commended to take measures to ensure no person
can come into contact with hot parts.
• Ambient temperature must be within operating
temperature defined in
• Make sure the exhaust duct is protected from rain.
• Make sure the exhaust duct has a grid so no objects
can get into the duct.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
Make sure the inside of the pipe between
the filter and pump are clean and free from
particles before assembly. Even small particles
can cause damage to the pump if sucked in dur-
ing startup.
5.1 Indoor installation
Consider the following when installing the unit in-
doors:
• There are to be at least two ventilation openings
for ventilation, at least 250×250 mm (10"×10") in
size. One is to be placed up high and the other on the
down-low in the room.
• Never seal a small room with the RBU unit installed
completely. At some stages, the unit will admit air
directly into the roots pump. This can cause a dan-
gerous underpressure in the room if the airflow is
obstructed.
• Duct away the hot discharge air, either to the at-
mosphere or to a heat exchanger. The discharge air
can reach more than 100 °C (212 °F). The duct must
be free from air restricting valves. A closed valve
could lead to an overpressure of more than 100 kPa,
which could severely damage the heat exchanger.
