3.5.5 Color verifier (VJ-1624X only)
Even under the same condition, the printed color may change due to various factors such as aging of the
printer or ink, the differences of lots of the media. Color verifier is a function which detects the degree
of difference between the colors printed in the present and past.
14 color patches are printed and then measured by using the optional Spectrophotometer
(SPECTROVUE VM-10). If color verifier is used in the past and the value is saved as a standard value,
colors are compared to the standard value, and the result will be printed.
NOTE
VJ-1624WX/1924WX is not equipped with this function.
To check the color reproducibility using the color verifier function, follow the two steps below.
1. Registering the standard value
Use the color verifier under the condition* to be the comparison criterion, and save the measured value.
(One standard value can be saved.)
2. Checking the current color reproducibility (to compare with the standard
value)
After changing the media or ink, or when reprinting the job which was printed in the past, compare with
the standard value to make sure that there has not been big changes in color reproducibility.
When the color verifier is used, the color difference (dE) compared to the standard value will be printed
on Color patches. When the color difference (dE) is big, it indicates that the color reproducibility has
changed from the time the standard value was registered. Generally, once dE becomes over 3.2, the
printed result shows clearer differences in colors.
TIP
In this function, the color differences (dE) is calculated by CIE94* method.
*CIE94 method was proposed in 1994 by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE).
*Example: When using the new media, after the initial charge, before printing continuous jobs, etc
