1.5 Pointer Energy
Loss Page
On the main page, tap
Pointer Energy Loss
to enter the pointer energy loss page
(or by tapping the left and right arrow icons on other pages), as shown in the
figure below:
Energy loss caused by pointer friction: Turn the pointer to the maximum energy
point on the dial and perform impact without putting specimen on the bearing.
Record the energy indicated by the pointer as E2 and then perform a second test
without adjusting position of the pointer. Record the energy as E2. Energy loss
caused by pointer frictions during the rise of pendulum can be calculated by the
following formula: p=E1-E2. Repeat the step 4 times and record the p value of
each time. Their mean value is the pointer energy loss of the system, i.e., P.
E1 is the zero returning difference, and the maximum allowable value is 0.1% of
pendulum's maximum energy.
p+ p
ˊ
is the total energy loss. The relative error of energy loss when the
pendulum is in free swing should not be greater than 0.5% of the pendulum's
maximum impact energy.
★
Note: If you do not want to use the pointer in impact test, select Do Not Use
Pointer test method on the main page. Then, the calculation of absorption energy
only incorporates energy losses due to bearing friction and air resistance,
excluding pointer energy losses.
