Password Configuration
The OptiSwitch-2400/L3 has three types of passwords,
corresponding to the level of entry given to a particular user.
■
System Entrance Password:
Enables access to the OptiSwitch-
2400/L3 CLI.
■
Enable Password:
Enables you to make configuration changes
to the OptiSwitch-2400/L3.
■
Linux/Root Password:
Enables access to the operating system.
Passwords are secure and encrypted, designed to prevent
unauthorized access and configuration changes. A password can
contain from 1 to 25 uppercase and lowercase alphanumeric
characters.

NOTE:
It is recommended not to choose a password that contains words from a dictionary,
any type of name or personal accessible information, for example, telephone
numbers or addresses.
Configuring or Changing the System Entrance
Password
The following steps must be completed in order to configure or
change the system entrance password.

To configure or change the system entrance password:

Enter the enable mode to begin configuration.
OS2400> enable
OS2400 #

Type
configure terminal
to enter the Global Configuration
mode. The (config)# prompt indicates that you have entered
the Global Configuration mode.

Type the

command at the prompt and press <
