Module Installation
The OptiSwitch-2400/L3 includes twenty four slots for installing modules.

To install a module into an OptiSwitch-2400/L3:

Turn off the OptiSwitch-2400/L3 using the power switch and
make sure the router is powered off and completely shut
down. It might require a minute to power-down.

Insert the desired EM2004xx module into a free slot of a
cassette.

Tighten the thumbscrews securely.

Activate the OptiSwitch-2400/L3 using the power switch on the
front panel. It may require a few minutes before it is completely
loaded.
First Time Login to the OptiSwitch-2400/L3
Configuring the OptiSwitch-2400/L3 for the first time requires you to
define a number of parameters. You must define a root and login
password according to the following steps.

Turn on the OptiSwitch-2400/L3 for the first time.

Type the command ‘
root
’ in the “OS2400 login” prompt.

Type in the password desired to configure the root (super user)
password in the system. The following is displayed
--- CHANGE ROOT PASSWORD ---
New UNIX password:
new password

Retype the desired password.

Retype new UNIX password:
new password

Type in the router’s
admin
(administrator) password. Enter the
password desired to configure the entrance into the system.
The following is displayed
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully
--- CHANGE ADMIN PASSWORD ---
New UNIX password:
new password
