19. Replacing PCECG RF Board
If the Central Station has more than one PCI RF board the easiest way to determine which board is causing the
issue is to start a monitoring session on an adjacent bed next to the bed that is having an issue. Next disconnect
one of the BNC cables connected to one of the PCI RF boards. If the power readings for the received signal stay
the same reconnect the antenna cables and remove a cable from the second PCI RF board. If the received signal
power drops to -100 dBm or more this is the board that is having issues. Typically the first 8 telemetry beds will be
located on the bottom board and the second 8 telemetry beds will be on the second to bottom board in the
Central Station PC.
To replace the board:
1. Locate the Central Station PC that has the offending PCI RF board
2. Shut this system down as defined in item 14 Power Up and Power Down Procedure listed above
3. Label all cables connected to the Central Station PC, to note correct cable location. Cable
locations are very important for proper system operation.
4. Disconnect all BNC cables connected to the Central Station PC in question, additional cables
such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power, may also need to be removed, for this repair
activity.
5. Remove the cover to the Central Station PC
6. Locate the offending PCI RF board
7. Carefully remove the board from the computer. Removal of both boards may be required,
depending upon which board is deemed defective.
