9. CHARACTERISTICS
9.3 Dynamic brake characteristics
Fig. 9.3 shows the pattern in which the servo motor comes to a stop when the dynamic brake is operated.
Use Equation 9.2 to calculate an approximate coasting distance to a stop. The dynamic brake time
constant t varies with the servo motor and machine operation speeds. (Refer to Fig. 9.4. Please contact us
for the servo motor not indicated.)

If the dynamic brake is operated at more than 10 times as large as the ratio of load inertia moment to
servo motor inertia moment, the brake resistor of the dynamic brake may burn out. If the value is
exceeded, contacts us.
