NOTE
z
We recommend using monitors which can differentiate between different anesthetic
agents for continuous monitoring to prevent deviations in concentration, leaks or
incorrect filling from injuring the patient.
z
When using Low Flow and Minimal Flow, the concentration of the anesthetic agent
may deviate significantly from the vaporizer setting. For this reason, measurement of
inspiratory and/or expiratory anesthetic agent concentration is essential.
z
We recommend monitoring oxygen concentration continuously and setting at least a
low alarm limit to detect insufficient oxygen supply.
5.2 Setting Checks
1. The filling level in the sight glass should be between the minimum and maximum marks.
2. Filling
system:
Pour Fill/Quik-Fil: Put the filler cap in place and tighten it securely. Tighten the drainage
knob securely.
Key Filler: Close the filler control and tighten the lock knob securely.
3. Connector
system:
Plug-in connector on anesthesia machine: Press the plug-in adapter level on the seals.
Handle for locking lever: Swing the handle for locking lever counter clockwise. Check if the
vaporizer is secure and is hanging vertical on the machine, when viewed from front and side.
Other connectors: The vaporizer is connected firmly and securely on the anesthetic delivery
system.
CAUTION
z
Check as per the above items. If these are not done, fresh gas and anesthetic agent
vapor may escape endangering health.
4. If several vaporizers are connected at a time, check that the interlock systems on the
vaporizers and anesthetic delivery system are of same type.
Check the interlock system of each vaporizer as follows:
1) Switch off fresh gas.
