All brake assembly components, in particular the brake disc (23,) and the brake adjusters (19) are subject to wear. In
consideration of the motor safety role, it's needed to replace them periodically. The replacement frequency comes
from the motor duty (number of start/stop, applied moment of inertia, environment conditions and so on), we
recommend however to replace them at least every 18 months.
Periodically check and verify the shaft splines wear, exactly where the disc slides. If the shaft splines has a visible
wear it's necessary to replace the rotor shaft (1).
Check that the motor is properly mounted either through the feet or the flange. Check that the mounting bolts are
properly tightened. If the motor is foot mounted make sure that the feet aren’t cracked or otherwise damaged. It is
recommended to perform periodical inspections.
Periodically Check that the Terminal Box Gasket is in good condition and guarantees a proper enclosure of the
Terminal Box. If it’s damaged it must be replaced with a new one.
Each gasket used both for the motor and for the brake enclosure must be in good condition in order to guarantee the
proper protection degree. If one is damaged it must be replaced with a new one. It is recommended to perform
periodical inspections.
For motors with unlocking hand release lever (128) verify with feeler gauges the distance between the brake cover
(26) and the lever (128) is between 0.7 and 1.1 mm, otherwise it will be necessary to restore it to the correct value
(please refer to the paragraph ‘Unlocking brake hand release removal ’). This distance tends to decrease with the
brake disc wear. Without that distance the brake correct functioning is not guaranteed.
For motors with the unlocking hand release lever (128), verify the tightening of the fixing system of the unlocking
hand release lever.
It is necessary to set a painting maintenance plan in order to assure the proper protection against corrosion.
