Topping up the washer fluid
Washer fluid reservoir (example)

Pre-mix the washer fluid in the correct mixing
ratio in a container.

Park the vehicle on a level surface and secure
it against rolling away (

page 146).

Open the bonnet (

page 279).
#
Pull the cap of the washer fluid container

upwards by the strap.
#
Pour in the pre-mixed washer fluid.
#
Press the cap

onto the filler opening until
it audibly engages.

Close the bonnet (

page 279).

Cleaning the water drain valve of the air
intake box

WARNING Risk of injury due to moving
parts
Certain components in the engine compart‐
ment may continue to move or suddenly
move again even after the ignition has been
switched off, e.g. the cooler fan.
Make sure of the following before performing
tasks in the engine compartment:

Switch the ignition off.
#
Never touch the danger zone surround‐
ing moving component parts, e.g. the
rotation area of the fan.
#
Remove jewellery and watches.
#
Keep items of clothing and hair away
from moving parts.

WARNING Risk of burns from hot com‐
ponent parts in the engine compartment
Certain components in the engine compart‐
ment can be very hot, e.g. the engine, the
radiator and parts of the exhaust system.

Allow the engine to cool down and only
touch component parts described in the
following.

Fuels are highly flammable.

Before filling up, switch off the engine,
and, if applicable, the auxiliary heating.
