5. Start the engine of the booster

minutes. This will help assure that
the booster battery is fully charged.
During the jumping operation, run
the engine in this vehicle at about
2,000 rpm.
6. Start the engine of the discharged
battery using the normal starting
procedure
7. Carefully remove the jumper cables
in the reverse order of attachment.

•
Keep the battery securely mounted
•
Keep the battery top clean and dry
•
Keep the terminals and connections
c l e a n , t i g h t , a n d c o a t e d w i t h
petroleum jelly or terminal grease
•
Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the
battery immediately with a solution of
water and baking soda
•
If the vehicle is not going to be used
for an extended time, disconnect the
battery cables
Once battery is reconnected, fol-
lowing needs to be reset
•
Clock
•
AM, FM channels
•
Audio adjustments (Bass, Treble,
Balance, etc.)
If volume is too high it will automatically

Always use jump start cables with
crocodile clips for connecting the
terminals / grounding.

• Improper jump starting procedure
can result in battery explosion and
acid burn hazard

Connecting a jumper cable near
moving parts (cooling fans, belts) is
dangerous. The cable could get
caught when the engine starts and
cause serious injury
CAUTION
Loosely connected battery cables
could damage the electronic control
units.
CAUTION
• To disconnect battery terminals
wait for at least two minutes to allow
discharge of high voltage or it could
lead to personal injury
• A l w a y s d i s c o n n e c t n e g a t i v e
terminal first and connect negative
terminal last
