Battery
Checking Battery Condition
Battery Exterior
Check the battery exterior for corroded /
loose terminal connections, cracks /
loose hold down clamp. If the battery
t e r m i n a l i s c o r r o d e d , w a s h i t w i t h a
solution of warm water and baking soda.
Prevent further corrosion by applying
pe t ro l e um j el l y t o t h e o uts i de of th e
terminals.
Once battery is reconnected,
following needs to be reset
1. Clock
2. AM, FM (channels memory)
3. Audio adjustments (Bass, Treble,
Balance etc.)
If volume is too high it will automatically
c o m e t o n o r m a l l e v e l .

Checking Electrolyte Level
Check the electrolyte level and specific
gravity at intervals of three months.
C h e c k a l l t h e s i x c e l l s f o r p r o p e r
electrolyte level. If the level is below the
lower marker, add distilled water until the
level reaches the upper marker.
Adding Distilled Water

Remove the vent plugs
•
Add distilled water to all the cells
that require the fluid
•
Secure the plugs properly

CAUTION
•
Be sure the engine and all
accessories are turned OFF before
performing maintenance
•
When washing, ensure that the
washing solution does not get into
the battery
•
Do not remove the battery
connection while engine is running.
This may cause damage to ECU and
to other electronic equipments.
•
Always disconnect the negative
terminal cable first from the battery.
But when reconnecting, always
connect positive cable first.
CAUTION
Do not fill distilled water beyond the
u p p e r m a r k l e v e l . E x c e s s i v e
electrolyte could squirt out of the
battery during heavy charging,
causing corrosion or damage.
